The key to a good pizza restaurant is that it’s as laid back as possible. That’s the kind of atmosphere you’ll find at ABGB, which is located down by the train tracks on between South Lamar and South 1st. The ABGB is part brewery, part pizza place, plus they have a little coffee stand on-site called Catahoula Mama’s. The pizza is top-notch, and the seating options are plentiful thanks to the spacious outdoor area and the family-style seating inside. When the sun comes out on a 75-degree day in Austin, there’s no better place than ABGB.
If you prefer your pizza to be served in an upscale setting, allow us to recommend Bufalina Pizza. This place serves hot and fresh brick oven pizza with perfectly charred crust surrounding a super saucy middle. Bufalina also has a nice wine selection, and it’s pretty cozy — making it perfect for a warm meal on a rainy day. If you decide to go, we highly recommend that you order the Calabrese pizza!
It’s hard to choose between cheap pizza and authentic pizza. Why can’t there be a place that uses fresh ingredients without charging something like $20 for a large pizza? In fact, there is. Giovanni’s Pizza stand makes amazing artisan pizza, and you can get a large cheese for about $12. Specialty pizza will cost you about $17 for a large, but they’re worth it for crispy crusts, delicious white sauce and thick cut pieces of pepperoni and sausage. Giovanni’s is located over on South Lamar, so call ahead and pick up your pizza next on your way home from work!
